Carcase Competitions Still Going Ahead

The Royal Brisbane and Royal Melbourne shows are still running their carcase competitions in 2020, albeit slightly different to previous years.

Royal Brisbane Show

The RNA Beef Committee would like to advise that the Royal Queensland Show’s (Ekka) 2020 Prime Beef Competition will take place at Silverdale Saleyards in August.

Competition classes will include grain and pasture fed, supermarket and local trade.

Entries will open Monday 25 May, with delivery of cattle to Silverdale on Wednesday 5 August. The cattle will be weighed on arrival, with judging and the sale taking place the following day on Thursday 6 August. All winners and the sale will be live streamed.

Royal Melbourne Show

The Royal Agricultural Society of Victoria (RASV) is thrilled to offer beef cattle breeders the opportunity to enter and exhibit in a unique hoof and hook-style competition, to be held at Yea Saleyards on Friday 25 September 2020.

The hoof and hook competition will be governed under the same regulations as the Royal Melbourne Show Beef Carcase Competition and exhibitors will be able to enter the competition online via the RASV website.

Pending government advice regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, the hoof and hook competition will include led classes, with exhibitors having the option for their animals to be judged unled.

Entries will open on Wednesday 27 May and close Wednesday 24 June.
