Introducing the Judge for the 2020 Victorian On Farm Challenge
Mr Rob Onley is the judge for this weekend’s Victorian On Farm Challenge (OFC).
Please read his biography below.
Born into the AI Industry, breeding and genetics has been in my blood from a young age.
Coming from my parents farm/beef cattle stud and AI business in Gippsland to working for some of the best seedstock producers across the USA and southern Australia, I have developed a passion for the improvement of the Industry. Which I now pass onto my clients, as I now find myself a “Breeding & Nutrition consultant” for AGRI-GENE for the past 7 years.
Starting out in the 90’s I went from breeding dogs to a Gelbvieh stud I shared with my sister, at the same time my father had a Limousin stud and AI business. All the while we were all involved in preparing and showing cattle for ourselves and our customers across the country.
Dad was heavily involved in flushing from the early days of the technology, and from the day I could reach to put a KAMAR on I was involved, and I believe this to be the impetus for my passion for cattle breeding.
Its these experiences at a young age that has lead me to pursuing a career in the livestock production industry, As part of the AGRI-GENE team it allows me to focus on my favoured part of the industry “BREEDING”. Working for AGRI-GENE has allowed me endless opportunities to travel across Australia and the world, to study all types of cattle and breeding programs.
I’m grateful for the opportunity to judge the RED ANGUS on farm challenge and I’m really looking forward to the task.
Regards, Rob Onley
